David presents David’s Tunnel of Love
1) You can interview any guest – dead or alive – on your show. Who would it be and why?
I would love to have a chat with the American Writer, Producer and Director Ryan Murphy. I don’t watch much TV but have never been disappointed by any of his work: Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Crime Story, Feud and American Horror Story Anthology – his work has kept me gripped to the sofa on many a cold night! I find his creative mind fascinating – the subjects, themes and characters he develops are wonderful. I’d love to explore all of that in an interview – and I’d ask him to bring Sarah Paulson with him as she seems so much fun!
2) You’re stranded on a desert island and can only download three songs. Which ones would you choose and why?
Open Your Heart – Madonna
For me, musically I loved her records in the late 80s/90s – just great tunes! The ‘Like A Prayer’ Album reminds me of my early 20s when I was foot loose and fancy free, focussed on my career, but absolutely having a blast with everything else.
Dancing Through Life – Wicked
I’ve seen hundreds of musicals but this show is probably the one I’ve seen time and time again. The show concerns itself with outcasts – being different – and that is something I think resonates with quite a few performers and absolutely the gay community. Some of us try so hard in those early years to fit into a box, conform, and get swept into a world that is chosen for us – rather than the other way round. The part in this song where Galinda dances with Elphaba – using her moves – well, it gets me every time.
This Is Me – Keela Settle
The movie musical that has just made the world a brighter place! When it came out I wanted to find out more about it and came across so many great articles, stories and content. My favourite was the footage of the creatives pitching the movie to the studio bosses. It was like being swept along by a rollercoaster. The lyrics are anthematic – and whatever your unique association to them.
3) When you’re not listening to Pride World Radio, what do you like to do (hobbies etc)?
I’m very lucky – my work is my hobby so it’s usually arts or slimming world related. I love musical theatre – so catching a show is a great escape! This year I decided to aim to do more things for myself, so I’ve picked up my childhood hobby and joined a local theatre Group who are staging ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’ which is such a fun show to be part of. I love holidays, reading true crime and biographies, cooking, binging on boxsets and of course music is my life – it’s been a great friend over the years.
4) Congratulations, you’ve won the lottery! Where would you go on holiday and why?
Easy! America every time – I’d hop between three places. LA because my best friend is there and the weather, New York for shopping and Broadway and Vegas for FUN!
5) Describe your personality in three words.
Diligent, Vivacious and Strong
